Situated on a "quiet side street" "near the East River" and United Nations, this "funky" "art deco" hotel earns kudos for its "attentive" service and "spectacular" views from the 26th-floor cocktail lounge; though "spacious" and boasting "small kitchens and lovely little terraces", the "antiquated" rooms "could use a makeover" (beds are "saggy"), and many find the "overpriced" food not "memorable."

Older well maintained property.
A bit out of the way.

Quaint older hotel reminded me of days gone by. Appeared to be an apartment at one time.

Great location and value.
Parking.

This hotel is located in midtown - east and very convenient for leisure travelers looking to enjoy all that NYC has to offer. There is easy access to all parts of the city.

Extremely friendly
and accommodating staff.
Outdated rooms, mold in bathroom, overpriced restaurant.

The room we requested was not available when we arrived and early arrival was not available even though we called to request. They did hold our bags and make other accommodations available to us to fit our party's needs. The staff was extremely helpful, especially the doorman - very kind, helpful and went the extra mile to give us special treatment. He alone made the hotel stay worthwhile. Hotel is very outdated and we found it hard to believe that dignitaries stay there for the U.N. Restaurant was very overpriced. For 2 bottles of beer and 4 bottles of water we paid $40! Outrageous! For the time we actually spent in the room though the hotel was fine and we did have quite a bit of room to move around. With 4 women we used the kitchenette as a 1/2 bath for people to get ready, it was pretty handy! ...read more

The enormous room and friendly staff. The silent location in comparison of midtown Manhattan.
Internet high speed is slow and not really high speed.

Helpful staff, large room, good location, great views from restaurant, kitchenette.
Bathroom was clean but had persistent musty smell, possibly from mold in walls.

Older hotel, somewhat worn but kept its dignity: spacious and pleasant room and comfortable beds and kitchenette. Staff was very helpful. Only flaw was the persistent musty smell in bathroom: not intolerable but not pleasant. ...read more
